Sharlene remembers being 7 years old and making a model harp from
bits of wood and nails, using rubber bands for strings. Years later,
Sharlene sculpts sound through her musical vehicle, the harp.
Now an accomplished, innovative harpist, recording artist and composer,
Sharlene explores Celtic, South American, and contemporary genres.
Sharlene's CDs are collections of transcendent tunes which sparkle
and resonate with her masterful technique. Relaxing, rejuvenating,
rhythmic, evocative, beautiful, original.
Most recently, Sharlene collaborated with flutist/pianist Susan
Piltch to create a beautiful instrumental album entitled Anticipation.
With the addition of the wonderful George Koller on bass and the
unique repertoire Sharlene and Susan play this recording is definitely
not your usual harp and flute album!
Beyond the Waves is
Sharlene's third independent album that is swimming with tunes you can listen
to over and over again. Described as eclectic, beautifully produced
and very enjoyable by The Wholenote Magazine, Toronto,
this album is like the third part of a triptych. the rhyme &
the river and Journey of Shadows are the first sections
of this trilogy. These albums are harp albums where the harp does
not hide. Whether backed by bass, percussion, accordion, saxophone,
cello, fiddle or harmonica, the harp sings through. While in the
studio with Beyond the Waves, Sharlene also produced a
short length CD Island Mountain. This features Sharlene's
composition Island Mountain Suite and her arrangement of Alfredo
Rolando Ortiz's piece Merengue Rojo.
